Christening Party – Live Music – Royal Oak, Aughton, Ormskirk

Live Music for Christening Party in Ormskirk. The venue today was at the Royal Oak in Aughton, live music was on the cards for another private event. The celebration today was the double Christening for Rachel and Martins baby girls. When we arrived it was a humid cloudy day. It was raining and we noticed that everyone had piled into the pub to have the buffet. It was planned we would turn up after everyone had eaten, but times must have fell behind as everyone was only just tucking into their food. With the pub being packed out meant we had to scout about for a suitable place to setup.

After speaking to Rachel and the bar staff theylive music aughton ormskirk cleared a space for us at the back end of the pub and we managed to get the equipment through the guests. “Excuse me, excuse me, sorry” as we tried to get through. First impressions had been that with all the body heat and humid weather it was baking inside the pub. Regardless we setup and played our first set.

Since the rain had now stopped and as everyone was suffering with, well not being able to breathe, they headed outside. After the first set Rachel asked if we were able to move our equipment outside. Yay, no problemo, we were using the Pop Up Acoustic so it would take us no time at all to shift it all. It was such a relief as the heat in the pub was quite unbearable. As we stepped outside we remembered how good oxygen actually was.

Due to the heat it was decided that everyone would go round the back of the pub were the bouncy castles what been setup, this was good news for us and meant we could play in the fresh air.

We headed to the back garden and spotted the bouncy castle. This is were Rachel had intended the party to be. But as with most events the British weather can change your plans as quick as, well the weather. Everyone was in good spirits regardless of the threat of rain. It didn’t stop the day from being a great success. The children were exhausting their excess energy on the bouncy castle whilst the adults mingled arounlive music aughton ormskirkd on the former bowling green awaiting our second set of music.

Once we found a suitable place to setup we started to play and then it rained again. This was of no consequence to anyone here. They were joining in with the music, having a leisurely drink and celebrating their daughters Christening no matter what. Even the rain wouldn’t stop them. It was fantastic.

It was like seeing the people in Blackpool eating an ice cream in the middle of December. Its what Brits do. The sun comes out a tiny bit and the shorts go on. The rain starts, well we simply dance in the puddles and reach for our umbrellas.

At some point we had been given an pub umbrella to shield us from the fine rain that had been soaking the amplifier. As we forced it into the ground it did stay put until the inevitable prop starting leaning.  It was quite funny really as the umbrella fell we had to shift our bodies to try and hold it up with our heads.

With the rain still coming down we played a Burt Bacharack song to make the rain go away. This did work for a while. Long enough for us to finish off our second set. The families had been enjoying the live music that much they asked us to play an extra set.

It was a lovely day despite the weather turning. Whilst it was still warm the precipitation (posh word for rain) didn’t really matter. We gave them a good show and posed for a few pictures at the end. Rachel and Martin have lovely children and a great family around them. It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon entertaining you all. Thank you for inviting us to perform and God Bless to your your two beautiful little angels.
