Live Music at Hopvine, Burscough

hopvine live music burscough lancashireSince we first performed at The Hopvine in Burscough we have received regular repeat bookings.

In days gone by the Royal Coaching House or Royal as it was locally known in Burscough was a fairly steady punters den. A common place for workers to come still dripping with oily t shirts and window sealant down your work trousers. With a den in the back and a fair few shady dealings.  It was a bit of a dive to be honest. It went from bad to worse finally closing it’s doors just after the millennium.

Thankfully those days are gone. The pub was overhauled and a new owner bought the pub. Changed its name to The Hop Vine and the rest is history.

Burscough was in need of a decent pub. With the new lease of life in the Hop Vine a new precedent was set. It is centrally situated in Burscough Village in Lancashire. So is easy enough to find. The food is fantastic and a meal for two here and you won’t be disappointed. The food has a great reputation and punters come from outside the parish to delight in a good slap up meal. With plenty of beverages on offer including local ales you have the best of both worlds. But best of all for us they are huge supporters of live music.

Our turn to play the Hop Vine had a late start as we have been trying to get booked in the pub for a while. We would casually call in from time to time as the booked bands were way in the future.

Our efforts had also been hampered with the subtle yet evocative name of another band. They called themselves The Rag Tag Duo.  It wasn’t long though before they had disappeared off the local scene. Since they used backing tracks it was quite misleading for our reputation as we only use live instruments during our performance.

On Christmas Eve night we happened to be the last group in the Hop Vine. We were chatting to the owner who asked “have you not performed here already?”. We explained the situation with our misleading tribute band and was offered a gig there and then.

Since that day we have regularly played at the pub. With friends coming along to join in with the music and support us. We have had a fair few recommendations out of it from Mike the owner. With bookings for private parties and weddings. We have handed a fair few cards out to people who have been watching and looking to book us. Good things have come from our performances here. Its always an appreciative crowd and we hope the bookings will keep coming in.

We are playing again at The Hopvine at the end of August as part of the Bank Holiday Beer Festival. Huge thanks to Mike and the team for your support of live music. Let the good times roll.
