Performance on BBC Radio Merseyside – On the Beat with Spencer Leigh

Our visit to radio Merseyside had been scheduled for 5pm and as we knew exactly where to park and how long it would take to drive in to the city we took our time and meandered casually in for our slot. After finding a car park space it became apparent that the car park charge would be a pound less if we waited 10 minutes, so we did just that. Every penny saved and all that. Walking into BBC Merseyside we rang the buzzer to be let in and no one answered. It seemed everyone had gone home. Double checking in my own head if I had the date right, after a few more failed attempts we were greeted by the wonderful Spencer Leigh and escorted through to the studio passing the reception and gold painted Dalek statue.

We had been invited on the BBC station by Spencer Leigh for his “On The Beat” show. Spencer is well loved and has been an author and broadcaster of many years and is of great support to us in our musical endeavours.  On tonight’s show featured Matt Bourne a sales director at Omnibus Books and Neil Cossar author of the award winning website and book  “This Day in Music” Neil also promoted Gordon Haskell for his number 2 hit How Wonderful You Are and is a very well respected radio plugger. I recommend you visit both of these websites if your into your music, you will discover some real musical delights. The studio seemed really hot as it appeared the air conditioning wasn’t working, so we stocked up with water and went live on air.

It was a delight to talk to Spencer and his guests who were really friendly and easy going and best of all really know their music, it was great to talk about music and groups in general and we enjoyed the chats with both these guys, we also played some live tracks for the show featuring some original material from our current album “Colours” trying to promote our new music video and also performed some covers to tie in with the show. Presented for the show had been selected tracks from Matt and Neil’s favourite artists and on topic had been the various rock and pop biographies from artists such as Keith Richards, The Beatles and Randy Newman. It was interesting to hear about the background of famous artists told by the artists themselves.

Our time on the show was for the full two hours though the time passed by so quickly that before we knew it we were taking pictures and preparing to leave. It truly was an inspirational and fascinating show and gave us some insight on how the industry works from a different perspective.

All we need to do now is promote our songs so we can buy that villa in Greece, but for now we will keep working hard and fighting the good fight.

Thank you Spencer for your ongoing support and thank you to Neil and Matt for entertaining us with your stories. If you missed the show you can listen again here:
